Florida Insurance Rights - Florida Insurance Adjuster News
Are Policyholders in South Florida Slowly Losing Their Insurance Rights?
I must say that when I read Florida House Bill 1181, I had to pinch myself. I was not sure if I was in Venezuela reading a decree from Dictator Hugo Chavez or in Cuba where all rights have eroded.
This bill proposed by the "Anti-Consumer", Janet Long, is essentially proposing that policyholders not have access to professional help with their insurance claims. This brazen, lop-sided move is clearly designed to benefit Insurance Companies and Insurance Companies alone. By passing this bill, Insurers will be able to pay the policyholder peanuts for their claims.
The other target on the "Anti-Consumer's" agenda, are Public Adjusters. A significant portion of the bill is dedicated to wiping out the profession of Public Adjusting altogether and forever. For example, some of the excerpts say:
- There would be no solicitation of a loss within 30 days by a Public Adjuster
- There will be no face to face solicitation except with prior clients or family members. (absolutely ludicrous!)
- A Public Adjuster's written communication shall be marked "ADVERTISEMENT" in big red letters
- A Public Adjuster shall make 10% of any excess of the Insurance Company's claim.
It's funny how they are such misers when it comes to fairly compensating an insured for a claim, and so willing to part with their money to pay off politicians to feed their agenda. It is quite obvious who holds the golden eggs here.
